Primary Sources in Perspective
This paper surveys the values and history of primary source materials
as a
context to introducing strategies for using these documents in
instruction. The approaches include improving literacy, thinking, and
communication skills. Another aspect is connecting document-based
learning to the textbooks and other resources, as well as seamlessly
integrating them into the flow of instruction. Three sample activities
are included.
